What Causes High BP?

I have always been borderline Blood Pressure...since early 20 s (43 now)...numbers ranged 140 s/90-100....Last 2wks started checking again...and noticed through out the day....numbers 150 s/100 s....going to 175/120....highest and bouncing in between///160/110......I am trying to geting into Dr appt this wk....any major concern with these numbers until then or in general??

Hi,

You had already hypertension (BP>130/80 mm Hg) and should have been on lifestyle modification and/or antihypertensive drug/s. Now you have persistent high BP. Risk factors need to be evaluated. Anti-hypertensive drugs need to be started. Base-line investigations like CBC, urinalysis, blood sugar fasting, post-prandial, BUN, serum creatinine, serum electrolytes, serum lipid profile, ECG, X-ray chest, USG KUB area need to be done.
