What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding While On Petogen?
hi, in October 2017 i gave birth to a baby girl, after 21 days i started with petogen since then i ve been bleeding sometimes is heavy sometimes its just brownish, my question is what might be the problem and will i fall pregnant while on injection?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Petogen is a progesterone based long-acting contraceptive which is up to 99% effective in preventing an unwanted pregnancy. It begins working immediately if given during the first five days of your menstrual period. If given on any other day of the cycle then it only becomes effective after seven days.
So, if you have not taken Petogen injection during the first five days of your menstrual period there is a possibility of pregnancy which must be ruled out.Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting.
Most of these side effects will fade after the first six months. However, it’s advised to consult your doctor since you’re experiencing heavy bleeding.
