General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Prolonged heavy bleeding during perimenopause may be due to the estrogen-progesterone imbalance. This imbalance can cause the uterine lining to become too thick.

Then, when you get your period, it can take forever for the lining to shed. You may also have uterine polyps growing from the wall of your uterus which can lengthen bleeding.

So I'd suggest consult a gynec for complete evaluation and for hormone replacement therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
