What Causes Heavy And Dark Brownish Bleeding Despite Having Abnormal PAP Test Result?

I went to my yearly OBGYN appointment about 2 weeks ago, and my pap came back abnormal. They told me not to worry about it & come back next year for another pap. I am about half way through my cycle & im bleeding pretty heavily. It s like a dark brownish red. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, welcome to HCM. I am doubtful about your history whether the pap smear is normal or abnormal. Abnormal means you should go and get few more tests to check. you don't have to wait till next year if it is abnormal for further tests . Then related to bleeding history it may be coming from the lesion. If pap smear is normal and you have typed wrongly , so the doctor asked you to come next year, Then this issue is due to hormonal disturbance. See whether there is any abnormality by getting a scan. Immediately take treatement from gynaec to stop bleeding if it is not reducing. My best wishes with you. Take care
