Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with High BP and anxiety about a year ago...While both these symptoms subsided after 2 months of medication, i was again diagnosed with High BP... though not very high, my doctor prescribed me Telista 20mg (1 dose per day).... I also started to have palpitations and felt my heart pumping fast. My Eco and Holter test were predominantly normal, however, at one point holter reported my heartbeat at 181bps (i was having an argument at that time). My doctor mentioned that 181 bps was very high (my average in 24 hours was 82bps) and prescribed Ivabrad 5 mg..... My questions are 1) is my palpitation caused by some medication mentioned above? 2) is my heart rate really high? 3) what could be possible reasons for my papitations? Age: 35 years
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns.
When holter monitoring and Echo comes normal you don't have to worry much about your palpitations. Palpitations may be because of anxiety, excitement, exercise or simply in thin chested individuals.
Non of the medication you have mentioned can cause palpitations. So don't worry.
Heart rate of 180 is really high. You should avoid much physical exertion when you feel palpitations.
Continue tab ivabradine for high pulse rate. Don't worry. Start yoga, regular walking and maintain healthy lifestyle.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
