What Causes Hearing Distortion At The Age Of 61?

I have been experiencing distortion in hearing for a while now. I first noticed it listening to the radio and old songs sounded different. I have also experienced in face-to-face conversations with friends when their voices sound different and also on the phone. I will be 62 next month. Is this an age related thing?

Many people notice a decrease in their hearing as they age. Is that what you mean by a distortion? It is not clear what you mean by old songs sounding different. If you are not referring to reduced hearing, then there may be something else going on with your ears. Perhaps a fluid build-up inside or something with the inner ear. In either case, it would be advisable for you to get your ears checked and also have your hearing tested. Even if it is just age-related hearing loss, action could be taken to improve your situation. Hope this helps.
