Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My BP has varied in the last month or so between 150/85 and 170/90. Lisonopril hctz helped but gradually it increased. I had 21 day samples of byvalson which seemed to get me below 150 for a while. I ve had Valsartan for 4 days now and BP was 160 / 90 when I got out of bed. Went back to lisonopril hctz this morning. Now 171/90 . Should I stick with valsartan for a longer period? Go back to lisonopril? Headaches every minute for last 72 hours to the extent it wakes me up.
First and the most important advise DO NOT change your meds as per your wish. Yes lisinopril is known to cause headache in 4 to 6 % of the patients and if it is troublesome then the drug need to be substituted with some other medication.
Yes you can switch back to Valsartan and stick to it for atleast a month and take your doctor help in adjusting the dose of the medicine as per the bp fluctuations.
Kind Regards
