What Causes Headaches Under Stress When On BP Medication?
I am 39, overweight, non smoking with a history of mild high blood pressure. I am not taking any BP medicine now. My last Dr visit a week or two ago and my BP was elevated. I have been under a lot of stress and have been getting very bad headaches (which I seldom get) especially around my eyes. I have some blurred vision and some dizziness. My head actually has been getting hot when I feel stressed and my my head hurts worse at those times. I was a little concerned this could lead to something like a stroke. Should I be concerned? Thank You, John
Hi. I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.
Your symptoms collectively might be a outcome of increase in BP. Early warning signs of "HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS " includes, severe headache, Defective vision, difficulty in breathing, palpitations etc.
I advice you, Lifestyle Modifications : - Do regular exercises & be stress free - Healthy diet with salt restriction - Avoid smoking, alcohol & fatty diet. - Consult your doctor for antihypertensive medications ( Amlodipine) - Eye examination by an ophthalmologist is needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
