What Causes Headache, Fever And Red Rashes On Cheek In A Child?

My 7yo daughter started with a headache last Thursday, devloped a 102 fever that night, developed a red rash on her cheek that has now spread to behind her ears and upper chest. She continues with a low grade fever, little appetite, c/o of sore jaw and has now started coughing. Trying to determine if this would warrant a trip to her pediatrician or let this virus take it s course. Thanks. Shawnda.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to viral fever. Still for further assessment he may require complete hemogram, peripheral smear for malarial parasite, dengue ns1 after pediatrician consultation. For fever you can give syp acetaminophen. Keep your self hydrated. He may require antibiotics after consultation. Give soft balanced diet.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
