What Causes Headache And Tenderness In The Temple Area?

AT the Optometrist today he said I should see an Opthomologist for cataracts. He also thought my painfull skin on my temple, dizziness and sometimes fainting could be a serious affliction but he wuld give my no answer to what he suspected. I need to know what these headaches and the tender skin pain near the headache could denote.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Headache and scalp tenderness in the temple area may be found in many different setting, most commonly in tension type headache, which is the most common primary headache (primary meaning without an identifiable cause) and is benign. What I suspect must have worried him would be the association with fainting episodes which should be evaluated for the possibility of seizures. If they are seizures then brain imaging should be scheduled as seizures in an adult may be a manifestation of brain lesions like tumors or stroke. However before jumping to conclusions a more complete evaluation is needed, starting with more complete description about these fainting episodes in order to judge the likelihood of them representing seizures.

Hope I have answered your query.
