What Causes Headache And Soreness In The Muscles After Consuming Alcohol?

Hi there, last night I got drunk and this morning I had the worst headache I have ever experienced. Followed also by tingling and muscle soreness in my left arm. Oddly enough, now I have bruising starting to show just above my brow line on my forehead. I never hit my head last night either. Since I ve woken I have had Panadeine and just been drinking water. Can you help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This morning severe headache is due to heavy drinking. Plus most of the time, drunk people will hit their body especially head against objects.

Unfortunately, they do not recall this. This explains the bruising that started to show above your brow line on your forehead.

Apply cold compresses locally. Continue taking only plain water for the rest of the day. We do not recommend intake of Paracetamol while drinking alcohol to prevent liver damage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
