What Causes Headache And Nausea After Neck And Shoulder Surgery?

I have been having headaches the back right side of head fills like i can just open it up and take out what is causing the pressure. My eyes burn with these headaches and I am nausas. I have been to the dr about them and of course they say they are migraines, give me shots and knock me out, or they blame them on neck and shoulder injuries...I have a fusion of the C4-5 and C5-6. I have also had two scopes done on my shoulder to remove bone spurs and fix impingement syndrome. All last week I slept and had a headache and I am feeling the same way this week. I am really starting to worry something else is wrong...Should I be?

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I read carefully your question and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to occipital neuralgia.

It is related to the nerve irritation from the chronic degeneration on your cervical spine (occipital nerve originates in this region).

I would recommend starting Gabapentine or Carbamazepine for the pain.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Best wishes,

Dr. Aida
