Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, so I ve had a headache for 15 days now. I ve been taking aspirin and it helps a little bit but not much. Then about 7 days ago my right ear started hurting. It feels like it is full of water and hurts. I have not gone swimming and have not had water enter my ear that I am aware of. It is affecting my hearing by making everything muddled but I don t know what to do or what s wrong. Can you help?
As per my clinical experience, the headache and ear ache with sensation of fullness of water do indicate possible swelling and inflammation over ear drum as otitis media or others most likely. That does not require an exposure to external water of swimming or else, but it is usually secondary to bacterial infection most likely.
A detailed evaluation with an expert ENT specialist with autoscope is mandatory at this point. Till that time, keep your ear plugged with sterile cotton and take tablet ibuprofen (400 mg) 3 times a day after meals if no history of drug sensitivity.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
