What Causes Headache Along With Sore Throat, Cough And Diarrhea?

My 9 year old has had symptoms of headache, sore throat, coughing, diarrhea and fever. The doctor diagnosed him with croup, but this is the fourth day of fever and suddenly the canker sores in his mouth have become really big and irritated. So much so, that his lips are swollen. He also has a rash on his stomach that the doctor called pedio something and said it was unrelated. Is this something other than the croup?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Rash can develop in viral upper respiratory tract infection as well. In viral croup headache can occur as constitutional symptoms. If mouth sore more than Multivitamin or vitamin B12 tablet can be prescribed. If inflammation seems more than very low dose steroid Betamethasone can be prescribed for five days. Vitamin C lozenges also beneficial. Consult pediatrician for examination and get prescription accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
