General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Long history of uncontrolled diabetes progresses to issues with vision and different organs. So its very important to control the blood sugar levels with medicines. There are chances that the symptoms your mother is experiencing are due to diabetes and her treating doctor is aware of it so follow her advice on management of the same.

The rheumatologist suggested to get the blood work and other tests done which came positive for the disease he is suspecting. Polymyalgia rheumatica is an autoimmune disorder. If you have doubts you can always consult another doctor regarding the same and get opinion on it.

As to owndown the disease progression, appropriate medical management is necessary which will give relief from the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
