What Causes Hair Loss After Taking Losartan?

I have stopped taking Losartan after I noticed my hair thinning. But I have been on it for at least five (5) years. I just thought it was menopause until I read that Losartan was not good for African Americans and it caused hair loss. Now that I am on new meds will my hair grow back?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, losartan does not cause hair loss.

For hair loss, you can apply minoxidil locally.

Use anti-dandruff shampoo. Avoid irritant hair oil and shampoo.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
