What Causes Gland Swelling In Throat And Jawline Area After Eating?
I have a gland in my throat and jawline area that swells up whenever I eat. This started on Thursday evening. The hard ball that occurs when I eat, gradually goes down in between eating meals but during the meal it gets large enough to be very obvious and very painful, I am reaching for Tylenol to help with the pain each meal. I am not running a fever, just very uncomfortable during the meal and afterward. It seems to be related to chewing food. I can drink liquids in between the meals with no pain
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The swelling over the glands following a meal can occur whenever there is obstruction in the salivary gland duct secondary to a stone. Whenever you eat something, the salivary gland will get stimulated and secretes saliva but because of the obstruction the salivary gland will get swollen. Consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get a cross sectional radiograph done to confirm the diagnosis. If there is a stone, then it has to be removed surgically. I hope i have answered your query. Take care.
