Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, we have started baby on s26, and noticed constpation.. We helped by insertng a qtip with vaseline. We changed to Similac total comfort... Baby still did not poop for 5 days!!! She is still taking her feeds but can see she is uncomfortable ... Passing a lot of wind! What to do???
Make sure your child is getting enough of more fluids as dehydration can cause constipation, children exclusively on mothers milk rarely ever constipate so try to avoid supplement food for a while, add a little prune juice to the food (whether mothers milk or supplement food), change the brand of the formula food, massage the baby's tummy gently in a circular motion, etc.
If the child does not pass stool even in another 24-48 hours then take your child to his/her doctor for further management as I do not know the age or weight of the child to prescribe anything further.
Best wishes.
