What Causes Frequent Urination At Night In An Elderly Woman?

My 88year old mother, in relative good health, is having to frequently, get up at night to urinate. There has been a urine test done and came back clean, so have eleminated a bladder infection. What other things should be checked and what doctors can diagnose the problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your mother seem to be related to urinary incontinence.

I suggest giving medication to relax the bladder muscle and can increase the amount of urine your bladder can hold such as Oxybutynin.

It is available over-the-counter in patch form, which delivers 3.9 mg of oxybutynin daily through the skin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
