What causes frequent shivering, high fever, sickness in leg for a type2 diabetic?

My husband is a type II diabetic. It seems like every 60 days he gets sick it starts with his leg being red and sensitive to touch. He also has lymphodema in this leg. Along with these symptoms comes shivering and at time high fevers. Every year he s in the ER atleast 2 times out of the year. Our primary says he s doing well A1C but I m worried that maybe he s a lot worse than what s being told. What should I do?

Fever with chills along with limb swelling suggests cellulitis.
In diabetes owing to peripheral neuropathy, the ability perceive sensations like touch pain, temperature etc. are decreased. This leads to recurrent trauma which are often unnoticed owing to the absence of pain.
Limb care is very essential part in diabetic management as it may turn to be troublesome to control infection as diabetes advances and may sometimes leads to amputation of leg even
So protection of limb from repeated minor trauma is essential.
