What Causes Frequent Hot Flashes, Sweating And Heart Palpitations?

I am experiencing a warm feeling with sweating in the morning after I wake up, and it also happens sporadically throughout the day. I am a 57 yr old female and am post menopausal. This is not similar to the hot flashes I had while going through menopause. This has been occurring over the past several months. I have also noticed more heart palpitations throughout the day. I ve always had a few palpitations, but the episodes appear to be increasing. My thyroid was removed in 96, so I am on Levothyroxine .125 mg per day.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
I would suggest you to get a thyroid function test (TFT) to monitor the status of thyroid functions since you have a history of thyroid removal in the past.
The symptoms of heart palpitations, sweating, feeling warm or cold etc can be seen in disturbances of thyroid hormones.
In case there is disturbance of thyroid hormones, the dose of thyroxne may have to be changed.
Thus, get your thyroid function tests and refer your treating physician.
In case the thyroid functions are within range, you need to consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations (ECG, echocardiography, stress test, angiography etc).
The above mentioned investigations will determine the probable cause of symptoms and thus management.

Thanks and take care
