Dear Customer , This is Dr. S. Tomar from healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I ll be your medical advisor for this question. First of all thank you for sharing your concern with us and showing trust on us.
There is no need to worry much as most of the infectious diarrhea issues are selflimiting . Just don't let settle dehydration . So drink plenty of water and mix Oral rehydration salt in water . Don't use medicines like imodium as it ll make the recovery slower and longer in infectious diarrhea . If you see any blood in diarrhea or get fever then consult your GP as antibiotics will be needed to eradicate the infection .
If its noninfectious diarrhea and is felt quite often then it could also be due to diabetes itself . Autonomic neuropathy can cause chronic diarrhea issues in diabetes . Anti diabetic medicines like metformin and artificial sweeteners also are known to cause diarrhea in diabetics. Diabetic diarrhea usually appears at night time , it's painless , watery , episodic and intermittent . In such cases imodium is useful as imodium is quite a tolerable drug which can be taken quite long period of time withouta any issue. Other modifications which are needed in diabetic diarrhea are to include high fibers in diet . With this a very strict control on blood glucose in mandatory . HbA1c levels should be maintained below 6,6 .
Other causes which can cause similar diarrhea issue are IBS, IBD, Celiac disease which should also be kept in mind during evaluation by Physician.
I would recommend you to consult this issue further with your Health care providers and get proper treatment .

This is my initial response and discussion is open until you have any query or need further clarification.
I wish you good health .
Thank you for your question and feel free to contact further for any question .
sincerely,
Dr. Shardendu Tomar
