What Causes Foul Smelling Brown Vaginal Discharge Post Periods?

This is really embarrassing to speak about, but I am noticing a foul smelling brown discharge, smelling like feces... I am worried and scared to go see a doctor because it is embarrassing. My period ended weeks ago so it can t be the ending of a cycle. I ve been tested for STIs and all came back negative.. I m not sure what this could be. I know I shouldn t but I have to use tampons because or else I can feel and smell it..

I can understand your concern. Foul smelling vaginal discharge indicates presence of bacterial infection. I would advise you to finish an antibiotic course.

You can take Levofloxacin 250 mg (Levoflox) twice a day for 5 days. The smell should be resolved by the end of the course of the medicine. Drink lots of fluids.

If you do not feel better in 5 days, physical examination and further investigations by a gynecologist are necessary. Foul smelling vaginal discharge is very common among women and gynecologists examine these patients in day-to-day practice so there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
