What Causes Foul Odor From The Right Side Of The Nasal Passage?

For about the past 1 & 1/2 months, I ve had a foul odor coming from the right side nasal passage along with a yellow crust that forms on the inside of the passage. When I try to remove the crust, I notice a foul smell. I smell all of the time whether I m removing the crust or not. When I babysat years ago, there was a child that had some kind of a problem in his nasal passages and this same odor was very strong when you got near the child. What causes this?

Hi

Sinusitis infection,Rhinolith,Chronic atrophic rhinitis are some of the causes of foul smelling nasal discharge.

Rhinolith is a stone present in the nasal cavity. The word is derived from the roots rhino- and -lith, literally meaning "nose stone". It is an uncommon medical phenomenon, not to be confused with dried nasal mucus.

Chronic atrophic rhinitis, or atrophic rhinitis, is a chronic inflammation of nose characterised by atrophy of nasal mucosa, including the glands.
Examination of the nasal cavity is essential to rule out the cause and for further management.

Hope that was helpful.Let me know if i can assist you further.
