General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. - Increased water intake is not likely to cause foot cramps On the other hand dehydration leads to muscle cramps ... so increased water intake is liable to help muscle health. - Over use or muscular exertion leads to muscle cramps. & Coffee is known to stimulate energy & muscular activity.. In that sense coffee can be blamed for feet cramps, - Less calcium / phosphorus & magnesium can lead to cramps. Please try to restrict coffee when you are taking calcium supplement ( it is known to hamper calcium absorption from food) -- but coffee is does not affect calcium suply to muscles through blood. * Try to get supplements for calcium/ magnesium & phosphorous ( milk, cereals, veges & salads) - Avoid over use of muscles. _ Do regular exercises for improved blood circulation. * consult doctor for expert advise if this does not help. Thanks
