What Causes Fluttering Sensation, Tissue Discharge And Light Bleeding In Left Nostril?

I had a flapping sensation in my left nostril. I blew my nose last night and out poppes a piece of tissue, approximately the size of a 10 pence coin. There was a light bleeding for the next few hours. I can now breath better but am worried about what it could be.I am 43 and fairly healthy, but use to smoke.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that you had a nasal polyp that has got detached and due to it there has been bleeding and difficulty in breathing..
It is also possible that there has been formation of a mucous and blood mixed clot leading to clogging of nostril..
As the condition has now improved you need not to worry but you should still consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and a nasal endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case if there is any remnants of polyps left you can be advised steroid sprays as it will help in regression of the polyp..
If there is any nasal or sinus infection present it will also be treated accordingly to prevent further discomfort..
