What Causes Fluid Filled Bump On Back?

Hi. I found a bump on my back with a black dot in the middle. My husband popped it and hard piece of whitish looking tear dropped looking object came out. It looked as if there was a very thin piece of string attached as he pulled it out. Is this something I need to be concerned about? Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on your history, the fluid filled bump is caused due to sebaceous cyst. Sebaceous cyst occurs when there is an excess collection of oil and sebum which form a cyst. It has a black spot on its surface and whitish material comes out f the cyst. Treatment is mainly warm compress, excision of the cyst and use of antibiotics in case of infections.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
