What Causes Fluctuating ESR Levels?

Hello Sir/Mam, Can ESR level fluctuate from 25 to 52 with in one day ? My wife is 31 and she was having body pains so doctor suggested her to go for a esr blood test. On monday her ESR level report was 25 and on tuesday from another lab her ESR resport was 52. She is not having cough or chest problem or any lumps and her chest xray report was all right but doctor said that though reports are all right but i doubt if she has sarcoidosis so he suggested us Chest CT scan. Her all other blood reports are fine like Cbc Calcium Urine Sgpt Sgot etc. However he said that he is not sure about sarcoidosis he has given brutaflam for 5 days (1 per day). Please suggest.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First keep calm as long as the tests resulted negative, then, we should not think the worst.

With regards to ESR, it is a sign of possible inflammation inside her body. It can differ from time to time and from lab reports to another.

As the doctors suspected of inflammation has prescribed Brutaflam to her.

Just continue her doctor's prescription and advice. Repeat ESR and CRP testing at the end of treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
