Hello,
Post
thyroidectomy there is a deficiency of thyroid hormone thyroxine that develops. It is indicated by very high TSH levels(normal 0. 5 to 5 mU/L(may vary depending upon the lab standards. High TSH (more than 10 mU/L or even much higher.)
This leads to development of all the symptoms of
hypothyroidism like weight gain, cold intolerance, muscle and
joint pains, constant tiredness, no interest in any activity, early fatigue, anxiety, stress, hair loss, slow
heart rate, dry skin and hair. With development of hypothyroidism there will be a slow weight gain.
Since there is no mention of T4 and TSH levels it is difficult to know exactly what might be the situation.
Usually post thyroidiectomy all the patients are put on adequate dosage of Levothyroixne to bring TSH down to around 3 to 4 mU/L and control the symptoms of the disease.
Now that you are under the care of a competent
endocrinologist you will be in good shape and all the symptoms will be in check.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
