What Causes Flashes In Vision?

3 weeks ago I was hit in the forehead with a pop foul ball. I suffered a laceration to the head that required 13 sutures. I had blurred vision for a couple weeks that cleared....a couple days ago I started seeing flashes of light - almost like a strobe light to same eye. Should I be concerned or just ride it out?

Hello,

You had head injury on your forehead after which you had to take thirteen sutures. You also experienced blurred vision for a week then it cleared up. Presently, you are seeing flashes of light. Flashes of light post injury may be indicative of concussion, when impact/injury shakes the vitreous gel inside the eyeball. It requires urgent medical attention.

Sometimes, retinal tear may present with such symptoms. It may require surgery. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ophthalmologist. Get all comprehensive eye examinations done. You will be treated accordingly. Neglect may cause worsening of the symptoms. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
