What Causes Fever Along With Cough And Cold?
Hello Doctor, My 17 months old kid (weight 12kg) is suffering from viral fever. Fever started on 28th july, 2016 at around 12pm. We gave crocin drops (1.5ml) but the fever was high at around 5pm (102F). Then our pediatrician suggested to give meftal-p (4ml) on SoS basis. We gave multiple doses of meftal-p, keeping 6hrs difference in each dose. The fever is down from yesterday(31st July,2016). But the baby started coughing and runny nose. He is reluctant to any drink. After giving him water he takes only one ship and then starts crying. From today morning he is less active and looks dull. Coughs too much and cries too. What should we do?

1. As children have low immunity, thus are more susceptible to infections [cold, sinus infection, flu] as a result when they catch a cold it makes hard for the body to fight against the pathology.
2. If the fever does not reduce with antibiotic treatment, ask for Hb%, WBC, ESR, Widal test, blood smear for malaria or lastly go for blood culture.
3. Give plain water, lime water, coconut water or electoral water
- soft rice with milk, Plain daal, boiled vegetables, toast jam, cornflakes, apple, banana, pear, watermelon, biscuits
