What Causes Feeling Hot All Over But No Fever?

My eleven year old daughter often complains of being hot yet never has a fever. She does have a cold. And suffers from seasonal allergies. We did go swimming two days ago and she complains now she hears water gushing in ears and she s congested and coughing. But even on a good day she often complains of being hot and I take her temperature to find she has no fever. What can be the cause of her feeling hot when she s not bogged down with a cold?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

People may feel hot without a fever commonly for some temporary causes which can be easily detect such as dehydration, eating spicy foods, stress, anxiety or a humid environment. Again, some causes aren't easily detectable like hyperthyroidism, anhidrosis or the inability to sweat, diabetes mellitus, menstrual cycles etc. She should undergo some investigations like CBC with ESR, thyroid function test, sweat test etc., to exclude other causes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
