What Causes Fatigue And Breathing Difficulty After Congestive Heart Failure?
Yed, my friends doctor said she had a good heart but he also said she had congestive heart failure. She s overweight, tires easily, easily gets out of breath and suffers from edema. She now wears diapers to sleep. She doesn t know the capacity of her heart. Can you shed some light on this?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Congestive cardiac failure is a condition in which heart loses its capacity or efficiency to pump blood as much required normally by the body. Hence, the person would feel tired as the peripheral tissues would not be getting adequate blood supply all the time. Difficulty in breathing also occurs because of stagnation of blood in the lungs due to poor circulatory process. There will be collection of fluids in the tissues as a result of this leading to tissue edema. This condition can be overcome by administration of cardiotonic drugs to improve the pumping efficiency of the heart and diuretic medications to eliminate tissue fluid accumulation. Kindly consult Cardiologist for appropriate evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
