What Causes Faster Heart Beat?

I am 26 yr female, weigh 83kg, and im 5'11, My heart rate over the last few days has increased whilst at rest and sleeping. Its making me feel uncomfortable and worried. I contacted my gp this am who said have a blood test, ECG and BP check. However i am unable to get this checked for a week when an appointment is avaliable. Im worried that something serious is occuring

Hi There

First of all i want to say dont worry you as stress and anxiety are themselves an important cause for fast heart rate/palpitations. If you are stressed or anxious due to some reason then it very well explains the faster rates. If there is no such things then you can go for the basic tests advised by your doctor.
