What Causes Fast Heart Beat And Headache?

My heart beats so hard that you can feel it in my stomache. My husband can lay his hand on my belly on the right side and when he pushes a little you can feel it beating. When I say beating I mean that you can feel it like a baby kicking. I have had 2 kids and that is exactly what it reminds me of. But when you feel my chest you can't really feel my heart beat. I have been tired and seeing spots a lot. I have also had a lot of headaches and it is really starting to worry me.

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a metabolic disorder (chronic anemia, thyroid dysfunction, etc.) or low blood pressure.

Have you checked your blood pressure values lately?

Regarding the pulsations in the belly region they are related to a abdominal aorta. They can be felt normally in elegant persons. But they can be more prominent during chronic anemia or thyroid dysfunction. From the other hand an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta can not be excluded either.

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a chest X ray study
- a resting ECG
- an abdominal ultrasound
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction
- blood electrolytes for electrolyte imbalance.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing good health,

Dr. Iliri
