What Causes Fainting While Suffering From High Blood Pressure?

Good morning Dr. Charles. I am Michael by name 64 years old. I suffer under High Blood Pressure but this is under control by medication. The matter why I ask you is, that I am fainting very often the last two mont. I had that never before. The doctors did all the usual things like bood control and even brain scan. But there was no result explaining the faintings. Do you have a suggestion what to do? Thanks in advance, Michael Weber

Hello,

It is good to know that your bp is controlled and your brain scan is normal.hope you have a normal EEG which reveals any abnormal brain activity like seizures. If so, it is TIA (transient ischaemic attack).

Go for carotid doppler and 2d echo to rule out any blood clots. Take blood thinners like Aspirin daily post meals.be careful on roads,at heights and while swimming.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
