What Causes Extremely Swollen Legs While Suffering From COPD And Arthritis?

My mother is 84, woke up with horribly swollen legs and a rash. She has COPD, arthritis and is on oxygen the majority of the day. Trying to get her to go to ER, no pain just discomfort. Prior Dr told her unless legs "leak" not to worry so she refuses to go to ER. Not sure what avenue to take or wait to see if any other symptoms appear

Here cause for swollen leg should be searched for like ...
-Kidney problem
-Heart failure
-Hypoproteinemia
-Liver disorders etc

For this detail history taken and physical examination needs to be done ..

As rash is present viral infection or allergic inflammation might be associated ...

Your mother having COPD so chances of Cor pulmonale that is right side heart failure is present...
For that EKG done

And for COPD if needed along with exercise , inhaler of brochodilator might prescribed ..

Advise : Consult pulmonologist or physician for detail work up
