What Causes Extreme Fatigue Despite Following Healthy Lifestyle?

Dear doctor The basic essence of my question is this: why am I always so tired? The reason I am asking you this is because most of the suggestions that come back from google don t seem to apply to me. Just to give you a bit of background on health etc: I m a 26 year old female vegetarian, and I generally have a healthy diet. I eat lots of veg and fruit every day, I eat lots of spinach and green veg to make sure I get enough iron, I drink about 1.5 litres of water every day, rarely have alcohol (maybe a couple of pints of lager or glass of red wine at the weekend, occasionally I may have one or two during the week but not regularly), I don t really smoke (used to be a social smoker, but rarely do that at all perhaps a couple of cigarettes on a night out once a month). I don t eat too much bread and have cut down on pasta as being a veggie I ended up eating it a bit too regularly (too stodgy). I do eat dairy and will have at least a couple of poached eggs a week and drink semi-skimmed milk every day with my cereal. My caffeine intake is low, usually have one or occasionally stretching to two cups of tea a day. On the odd day I might fancy a coffee, perhaps once a week. My sugar intake isn t too high although it could be better (mainly having cakes and sweets forced upon me in the work place!) I try to make sure I get enough vitamin c by eating satsumas and also sometimes having a dissolvable vit c tablet like berroca. My job is not at all physically demanding but I do work on a computer most of the day and am wondering if this is contributing to my tiredness. Because I get little exercise at work I try to go for walks at lunchtime etc but I only have 30 mins which is little time to go for a walk and eat my lunch. I have a gym membership and try to play badminton once a week at the weekends and go to the gym another couple of times during the week, but I am struggling because I am so tired all the time. I have had blood tests for anaemia but it has always come back fine (recently had a blood test a few weeks ago for something else and everything was ok). I have limited my computer use after work to make sure I m not over-straining my eyes (with the exception of writing this now!). I get on average 7 hours sleep a night, often 8, and have no problems with falling asleep. I tend to naturally wake up early at the weekends and cannot get back to sleep at all despite the fact that I still feel incredibly tired. Despite all my efforts as stated, I always feel tired. From the moment I wake up (I often feel a bit nauseated from the tiredness) throughout the day. I could come home from work at 5pm and just fall asleep on the sofa. I try my best not to do this because I know I wouldn t sleep well during the night. I feel like I m doing all the right things and I still feel rubbish. If I m going out for an evening I feel like I HAVE to have an energy drink even though I can t stand all the sugar. Any GP I have asked has just told me to have a blood test for anaemia because I mention I m a vegetarian and they just assume I m not getting enough Iron. The blood tests come back normal and I don t usually get any other response from the GP, which I don t find very helpful. Sorry to give you such a long-winded background, but I felt like it s best if I tell you my history so I don t get asked all the questions I could just answer straight away. I hope you might be able to shed some light on this for me. Many thanks
