What Causes Excessive Weight Loss And Low Potassium Levels?

I have noticed decreased exercise tolerance over the past two months. I am female 58 5 8 . 132 lbs. I lost 15 pounds in the last two months. My doctor thinks it s asthma. But I just had a pulmonary function test which showed mild asthma. I m normally very active. Yoga twice a week. Tennis twice a week. I ve been to the ER three times in the past week with sob. Chest X-ray normal. Ct scan normal. Blood work normal except for low potassium. Prior to this I was very healthy. I went for a 10 minute walk today and got very SOB. Took my inhalers. I wasn t wheezing. I do t really think it is my lungs.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your low potassium level could be an incidental finding. I suggest you repeat the blood test, as potassium levels (like everything else) can fluctuate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen,
General Surgeon
