Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are many reasons for weight gain if your are female then causes like Polycystic ovarian diseases (PCOD), menopause leads to weight gain If you are male then stress is the main cause other than thyroid. So I suggest you to take Cortisol level test and USG for PCOD. And for thyroid investigation Thyroid function Profile is enough to rule out but if you still have confusion you can do USG Thyroid to get clear about thyroid problems.Consult a physician with the reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,I m a 22 year old and female. Over the past 10 months I ve been experiencing a sudden weight gain. I used to weigh 65 kg, and I m 1.71 cm tall, and that s been my average weight for the past 9 years. Then, last September I ve started to gain weight, and although I lost 5 kg around Christmas I ve gained it all back and currently weigh 85 kg. There s no dietary reasons for it - I don t eat either fatty or sweet food, and on average I never have more than 1 or 2 meals (normal portions) in a day. I m worried than my problem might be related to pcos, which I was diagnosed with about two years ago, and furthermore that diabetes might be in the cards. I ve checked out diets that might be helpful to my condition, and as such I ve stopped eating bread, pasta, rice and anything that might contain sugar or too much fat - however I keep gaining weight and I m not sure what to do. As for exercise I don t own a car, so I walk everywhere, but I don t go to the gym, since I don t have either the money or the time. I don t know what to do, at the minute not eating at all seems the only option. I don t even fit into any of my clothes. Also - I don t know if it s relevant - but during the past few months I ve had an eczema like rash on my arms and upper back. Also my gp said I don t have hyperthyroidism. My doctor won t see me since the clinic is all booked up for the next month, and I can t afford a private consultation, so please help! Thanks

Why am I gaining weight? Thursday I weighed 118.5 lbs Yesterday I weighed 122 Today I weigh 123.7!!! I have not been eating more or less. I worked out super hard Friday (ran for over an hour). Only medication change is adding Cefdinir 300 MG capsules for my sinus infection. Why is the number on the scale going up (especially this fast)? As someone who cares about their weight and about what they look like, this is seriously freaking me out. HELP!!!!
