What Causes Excessive Weight Gain?

my pcp noticed a sever elevation in my weight, and noticed something about my right carotid when looking at it as well as listening to it. afterwards she increased my Lasix to 40mgs twice a day and referd me to a cardiologist who preformed a ekg whichwas normal no panic values but as sech a liexscan. I walk 2-3 miles a day, and sometimes I experience some sob as well as chest pain. my question is what do they expect to find and is this serious which is a stupid question seeing as I am a retired paramedic.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I am so sorry to hear about this rapid weight gain. The most common cause of rapid weight gain is fluid retention. With you reporting urination difficulties, I will suggest that you get evaluated by your doctors to see what the origin of this problem is. Acute fluid retention may be caused by a problem of the liver, heart, or kidneys in a majority of the cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
