Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have heavy sweating even while sitting in air-conditioning. I always carry a small towel with me to dry my face and neck. My entire body becomes soaking wet. I am 64 and have gone through menapause. I have always sweated quite a bit but now it s just anytime and not necessarily while working in the heat.
Sweating a lot is a symptom that is common and not very specific. Many people sweat more than usual and there is nothing to worry about. Menopause can affect your sweating but other conditions such as sugar levels, thyroid, and other metabolic or infective conditions. I would recommend you to do the following tests: - TSH to check your thyroid function - fasting blood sugar - basic metabolic profile (liver function, kidney function, etc) - CBC and ERS
If the above tests are normal and you do not have a subfebrile temperature or weight loss or extreme fatigue, very likely this is normal sweating for you and there is no need for treatments.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
