What Causes Excessive Staring After Talking Verapamil?

My daughter who is 26 has started having episodes of just staring and does not respond to stimuli such as my moving my hand in front of her face. These episodes will last from a few seconds to a few minutes. She was recently put on verapamil due to rapid heart rates. ? absence seizures?

If her symptoms started when she was placed on Verapamil, then it may be a side effect of this drug. However, such effects are less common. If not the case, absence seizure will be more likely. I will however, advice you see a neurologist for examination and an EEG.
