What Causes Excessive Hunger After An Abortion?

Hi, I just had a surgical abortion 4 days ago. I was 12 weeks and 2 days when I got the procedure done. I have noticed I get hungry all the time. Is this normal? I m always eating. I pick on food a lot. I go from eating chips to pop tarts to anything I set my eyes on.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Passing through the post-abortion period can be emotionally traumatizing.

Sadness, grief, depression, anxiety are a few negative emotional and psychological issues that are possible after an abortion.

The depression and anxiety especially are responsible for the continuous hunger that you are experiencing which will wane off as time progresses.

So there is nothing to worry. Be happy.

If the symptoms persist for a longer period, please consult your psychologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
