What Causes Excessive Fatigue And Chest Heaviness While Having Rheumatoid Arthritis?

I am 54 years old, female. I have moderate RA, depression, chronic daily headaches and migraines, allergies, & Bi-polar but lately I am severely fatigued. I am also short of breath or have a heavy feeling in my chest. I did blood work and DR said it all looked normal compared to past work-ups. I sleep ok, never have very well. I take Lunesta and sleep ok most of the time, sometimes not very good. That is my normal. But lately I just seem to be more tired and more, and more, etc. I hit snooze several times, get up in AM eat breakfast, fall asleep in recliner for 30-40 min. Hit snooze on my phone several times. Go to work and I drag all day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of RA. You are in the menopausal Phase. Menopausal symptoms are fatigue, depression, heavy feeling in chest, insomnia, hot flashes, emotional changes & mood swings.

You are suggested to see a gynae, get physically examined. Get symptomatic treatment done. You may need HRT to help you feel better. However, menopause is a natural phenomenon, no worries.

Since you are having chest heaviness, get CBC, lipid profile, ECG, echo, X-ray, stress tests done under a cardiologist to rule out any developing CAD. For RA, take NSAIDS.

Do regular exercises, maintain low BMI. Take home made fresh food. Avoid sedentary life. Stay away from trans fat, high protein diet or red meat. Avoid additions if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
