What Causes Excessive Crying, Fever And Tiredness While Treating An Infected Toe?
9 mo baby with infection in big toe. Dr prescribed a topical antibiotic and amoxicilin liquid 5ml 3 times per day for 10 days. This is 6th day and toe looks better but baby crying uncontolably. Seems to be arching her back and muscle spasms. Not eating much or drinking her formula. I know she s tired but only sleeps for a few minutes then wakes in pain. Temp 98.5. She is normally a very happy baby. What would you suggest?
It's great that your 9 month baby is responding well to antibiotic treatment for big toe infection.
Unfortunately, antibiotic use is associated with alteration in intestinal flora, leading to tummy pain, not drinking her formula, not eating much.
Give probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora. Consult with pediatrician to run stool examination to rule out candida overgrowth and treat it adequately.
Wish fast recovery.
