What Causes Excess Belching And Flatulence While On Lactulose For Cirrhosis?
I am a 71 yr. old woman with cirrhosis(?) and must take lactulose every day. I also chew on ice a lot (instead of smoking). I have excessive belching and farting. I know the medicine causes a lot of it (don t know about the ice crunching). Is there anything I can do or take(of a natural substance) to eleviate my discomfort? Lactulose itself can cause the symptoms. You can lay off then or reduce the dosage. Take high roughage diet rich in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily.
