What Causes Esophagitis And Gastritis?

Dear Dr. I am a female, 47 yrs old. I have difficulty swallowing, symptom started suddenly two weeks ago for a day then went away, a week later it came back and it has been like this for a few days. I have had chronic post nasal drip for more than 10 years and I always feel there is a lump in my throat but I never had issues swallowing before, the lump in my throat feels much worse now. I also have chronic heartburn and take Zantac occasionally. I had a routine endoscopy a few months ago which revealed mild acid induced esophagitis and gastritis. Not sure whether I should go to my ENT or GI or even neurologist, which I have consulted over symptoms appearing like peripheral neuropathy years ago and tests revealed nothing, I do have some of the same neurological symptoms now which started a month ago but much milder (stiffness in hands and pain in joints in multiple locations) . Please help! Thank you!

Hello dear,

Warm welcome to Healthcaremagic!

I have evaluated your query thoroughly.

The possible causes of gastritis and esophagitis are as follows:

1) Stress and anxiety related to certain foods
2) Ulcer condition

3) Gall bladder, liver or pancreas conditions
4) Hormonal imbalances
5) Side-effects of certain drugs
6) Alcohol, smoking and others.

Note: Stiff hands and joints are neurological issues . You will need to consult with your gastroenterologist and neurologist for precise management.
