What Causes Epilepsy And Severe Short Term Memory Loss?
Good Morning (from the UK) I have recently developed epilepsy and severe short memory loss. As a young man I took part in numerous contact sports. I boxed, played rugby and was a proficient header at Association Football. I then joined London s police and was a member of the Special Patrol Group (riot squad). Then as a detective in Scotland Yard s Flying Squad (armed robberies). Throughout my life I suffered numerous concussions and head injuries. The fact that I am now Emailing you at 5am UK time is somewhat unusual! I am on medications for the epilepsy, I do cryptic crosswords for the memory!!! However I feel I m going downhill. Is there anything you can suggest?

What Causes Epilepsy And Severe Short Term Memory Loss?
Hi, Epilepsy is a neurological disorder in which nerve cell activity in the brain is disturbed, causing seizures. Short spells of the blackout or confused memory are one of the known features associated with epilepsy. Since you are on medications and also practising memory enhancement techniques, gradually, you should be able to overcome the symptoms. Kindly continue with the treatment as advised by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
