Hello,

I can understand your concern. There are lymph nodes related to ear in the area you have described. When there is infection in the ear, these lymph nodes become enlarged and painful.

You are right in your research and assumption that what you have may be mastoiditis. Mastoiditis is an inflammation of the bone and surrounding muscles. This bone is situated in the area that you are having trouble with.

As you are not able to hear from the left ear, I would advise you not to take things with right ear lightly and should visit an ENT specialist for the examination of the ear. You might need antibiotics coverage to clear the infection and have relief in pain. If you are in pain, you can take Ibuprofen 400 mg up to thrice a day to have relief in pain till you get an appointment with the ENT expert.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
